Transport
The airport is just outside Dublin, so the road to accommodation. You will be able to go to the city either with buses 16, 41, 700 or 782 (the ticket costs up to 4€ and can be purchased at the station, on the bus or online), or with a taxi (in which case you will pay at least 30€) .
What do you drive in Dublin?
In the city, we recommend that you move mainly with public transport, which is very well developed, with buses, trains and fast trams. The most convenient is to purchase a tourist pass, valid for 24h (8€), 72h (16€) or 7 days (32€), and thus you will be able to go unlimitedly during the selected time period.
It is also worth noting that Dublin offers a very well developed system for renting bicycles. In the city there are almost 40 points where anyone can take or leave a bicycle, and the price is only €3.50 for one day, respectively €5 for 3 days (for trips of up to 30 minutes).
If you don't want to worry about the route, taxis in Dublin or acceptable rates, and the price per kilometer is on average €1.35. And renting a car is an option, and you will pay for it from 20€.
Accommodation in Dublin
For accommodation, you should expect slightly higher prices compared to other European capitals, as a room for 2 people starts on average from 80€ per night in the central areas of the city (where we also recommend you stay, to have more access quickly to tourist attractions).

A one-day card costs €69, for 2 days it will cost €89, and for 3 days €99. Taking into account the prices for entry to the most important tourist attractions, you are sure to save.
3-day Dublin sightseeing
If you want to make the most of your time here, it's best to leave with a well-established plan of what you want to see. For this reason, I have prepared a suggested itinerary for 3 days spent here, which you can follow.
Day 1
- City Center & Spire of Dublin
- Dublin Castle
- Cathedral of Christ
- Dublin
- Saint Patrick's Cathedral
- Ha'penny Bridge
- Temple Bar
Recharge with fresh energy once you arrive in Dublin, because we guarantee you'll have 3 days to intensively explore every corner of the city. Because it has so much to offer, and everything you discover will appeal to you, you'll find you won't even have a whole week here, so you can't waste a moment in Dublin.
Downtown
The perfect place to start your visit is right in the city center, so we recommend you take a walk down O'Connell Street to get familiar with the buildings and atmosphere of Dublin, surrounded by many other tourists. The symbolic monument will definitely catch your eye Spire of Dublin, a steel pole over 120 meters high. There is no tourist who leaves Dublin without a picture in front of him!
Grafton Street
Grafton Street is one of the busiest shopping streets in Europe, being a "must see" for shopping enthusiasts and music lovers, famous for its street music. Grafton Street has long provided the soundtrack to Dublin city life. Many of Ireland's best-known musicians started their careers in street music on Grafton, and now it's the place for artists who want to make a name for themselves.
Dublin Castle
Dublin Castle located just 15 minutes' walk from the center, it will allow you to penetrate even better into the world of Ireland, for only €8 a ticket (free with Dublin Pass). Built in the 13th century, the castle retains a special medieval atmosphere, and the most popular places in the castle are the former chambers-residence of the viceroys, the towers at different sites, the Royal Chapel, the Chester Beatty Library, and the Dublinia museum, which presents the history of the Vikings ( for which you will need a separate ticket, which costs 14€s). It can be visited daily, between 9:45-17:15, and lines 13, 25, 40, 52, 69, 79, 123 run nearby.
Cathedral of Christ
Just a 4-minute walk away you will find Cathedral of Christ, the oldest building in the city, which is over 1000 years old. Many treasures lie here, including the heart of St. Laurence O'Toole, the tomb of Richard de Clare and a rare copy of the Magna Carta. It can be visited daily, between 10:00 and 16:00, and a guided tour costs €10 (free with the Dublin Pass).

It is opposite Dublin, an interactive museum where you can delve into the history of the Vikings and medieval Ireland. The ticket costs €15 (free with Dublin Pass), but it guarantees you a truly unique experience, and the schedule is from Monday to Saturday, between 10:00 and 17:50

In the garden is the fountain where Saint Patrick is said to have converted the locals. You can enjoy the beauty of the cathedral for only €8 daily, between 9:00-17:30 (free with Dublin Pass).
Ha'penny Bridge
And because it will probably catch you in the evening, we recommend you take bus 27, 49, 77A or 150 and return to the center. The River Liffey brings the romantic spirit and beauty of the water to Dublin, and you can best enjoy these from Ha'penny Bridge, what a story hides. fascinating! Built more than 200 years ago as a sign of protest, for a long time it was the only thing that connected the city , and its common name (not the official one, because its name is actually Liffey Bridge) comes precisely from the toll to cross the bridge: halfpenny. No matter when you choose to visit it (although in the evening you will see the most beautiful sunset), you will experience a wonderful atmosphere!
Temple Bar
And as the nights are really interesting in Dublin, you should not miss the opportunity to spend a few hours of your first evening in Dublin in the pubs here, enjoying folk music, with a glass of beer or whiskey (pubs) , among cheerful and welcoming people. The best area is the neighborhood Temple Bar (exactly the area where the Ha'penny Bridge is located), where you will surely find a suitable place for you, among the dozens of pubs, bars, clubs, cafes and restaurants (or you can even take a tour of them), for to end your evening in an authentic way.
Day 2
- Trinity College & Trinity Library
- Stephen's Green Shopping Centre
- Guinness Storehouse
- Phoenix Park&Dublin Zoo
Trinity College and Trinity Library
Set your alarm early, because another busy day is in store, this time leaving Dublin's central area! Your first stop will be at Trinity College (where you can reach with buses 13, 14, 122, 123), the oldest university in Ireland, founded in the 14th century. The university is a real cultural jewel of the city, and access to the campus is free and you can feel the historical atmosphere from the moment you enter, among excited students. You can also choose a guided tour of the campus, for €15.
This is also where the amazing is library of the university, which houses over 5 million books in a setting that will take your breath away, including the Book of Kells, the spectacular manuscript from the 9th century, but here you will have to pay €18 for entry, and access is only between hours 8:00-12:00.
Stephen's Green Shopping Centre
And since you're in the area, don't miss a more modern place: Stephen's Green Shopping Center (10 minutes walk), one of the largest and most beautiful shopping malls in Ireland, with stunning architecture. You can have an honest shopping session here, hunting for souvenirs, and then you can have a meal in one of the restaurants here.
Guinness Storehouse
And because you can't experience Ireland without bringing up the famous beer, you shouldn't leave Dublin without visiting Guinness Storehouse (to get here you will take bus 13, 27, 40 or 123). The former brewery hosts an exhibition dedicated to the history and art of this drink, displayed on 7 floors, and at the end you will be able to enjoy a pint of beer (included in the price of admission) while admiring the panorama of the city. A ticket starts at €28 (free with Dublin Pass), and you can visit the place between 10:00 and 17:00.
Phoenix Park and Dublin Zoo
Then take busuzl 26 or 69 to get to Phoenix Park, the largest urban park in Europe, spread over more than 700 hectares is the perfect place to relax at the end of your second day here, and is open 24/7. Several species of animals are preserved here, in their natural, unfenced habitats, and visitors have free access. It is also here Dublin Zoo, a conventional zoo, perfect for children, and the ticket costs 21€, access is allowed between 9:30-18:00.
Day 3
Cliffs of Moher (excursion)
And if you want to enjoy the peace outside the city, we recommend dedicating a whole day to an excursion in the area Cliffs of Moher, a true work of art of nature! You will see from over 200 meters the beauty of the sea, in a special setting, between steep black rocks and colorful plants. You can get here easily by taking the bus from Dublin (you will have to change 2 routes), and in total you will pay about €50 round trip. However, we recommend the option of a tour organized by travel companies (which you can quickly find online), in order not to beat yourself up on the road and enjoy more attractions in the surroundings, and prices start from €70 for a unforgettable day in this unique setting.
Food
Although the recipes do not use special techniques or ingredients, the food in Ireland is characterized by its amazing tastes. Beef steak marinated in Guinness dark beer remains the most recommended dish in restaurants, full of flavors that will stay in your mind. Something more traditional is Boxy, a pancake with potatoes (yes, you read that right) much loved by the locals, and it's also with potatoes colcannon, a puree with cabbage, onion, butter and cream. And of course, you can't serve anything in Dublin without Guinness stout.
And when it comes to places and restaurants, you probably already expect that in such a big city you will find enough places where you can eat, so it all depends on what you are looking for. E.g, Bloom Brasserie is a restaurant with Irish specialties (but including vegan and vegetarian options) and moderate prices, and at Beanhive you will find simple dishes, typical of the area, at very affordable prices (from €10). If you are looking for a more aristocratic place, you can choose Glovers Alley, a superb restaurant with a Michelin star.
〰️
Dublin is, therefore, a city of contrasts, in which anyone will find themselves. The city remains an intriguing destination, where Vikings, history, nature, music and fun build a perfect holiday setting at any time of the year!
