Transport and accommodation

from Diagoras Rhodes Airport you can reach the city center by bus for about 2-3 euros/person in 40 minutes. You can buy the ticket from the driver, and the bus stop is 300 m to the left of the exit from terminal 1. The first bus leaves at 5:50 a.m., and the last one at 11:35 p.m.  

Or you can choose to get to the center by taxi for about 25 euros. You will arrive in 20-30 minutes and you can easily find a taxi at the airport exit. You can even book a taxi on the airport website. You can find the link at the end of the article.  

The most affordable accommodations in Rhodes start from 20 euros per night. If you want something more special, like an accommodation in Rhodes right next to the beach, you can choose villas or hotels with prices from 30 euros per night. We recommend you Manousos City Hotel, located 2 minutes' walk from the beach. The price starts from 30 euros/night for a double room and you have free access to the hotel pool. 5-day itinerary in Rhodes 

We recommend a vacation of at least 5-7 days to fully enjoy the beauty of the Greek island! Also, by choosing an accommodation in the north of the island - right in the city of Rhodes, you will be close to the most popular attractions. And to visit other objectives, you can easily reach them by bus. 

Day 0 

  • Arrival on the island of Rhodes

Once you have arrived at the airport, choose one of the 2 modes of transport and enter the heart of the city - the center. After staying at the hotel, the best way to discover the surroundings is through a short 20-30 minute walk around the hotel. Thus, you will be able to see what options for restaurants you have and how close the bus stops are. In the evening, have a Greek or Mediterranean dinner at Nisos Restaurant with prices between 3-25 euros located right in the center. It is among the most popular restaurants and you will find dishes with shrimps, gyros, snacks, but you also have vegan or gluten-free options.

Regardless of whether you are on a Greek island for the first time or have visited before, the local breakfast is absolutely delicious. We recommend you Auvergne Cafe & Restaurant located in the Old Center of the city. You can find dishes specific to the island, as well as European and Mediterranean dishes. The price for a full Greek breakfast is 12 euros (including drinks), and the other dishes vary between 3-30 euros.  

Elli beach

Now is the time to discover the dream beaches! Elli beach it is among the largest in Rhodes and you will find clean water with light shades of blue. It is located right in the north of the island and you can rent 2 deckchairs and 1 umbrella for 10 euros. To get there from the city center, you can go one stop by bus for about 2 euros. At lunch you can enjoy fresh seafood at Ronda Restaurant with average prices. It is located in the southern area of Elli beach. 

The vivarium of Rhodes

The vivarium of Rhodes it is located right next to the northern area of Elli beach and here you can observe the marine wealth of the Aegean Sea in the form of underwater caves due to the construction. You can observe turtles, corals, octopuses and many other sea creatures in their natural habitat. It is open between 9 am and 8:30 pm between April 1st and October 31st and between 9 am and 4:30 pm between November 1st and March 31st. Tickets cost between 3-7 euros per person, and children under 4 have free access. 

Mandraki Port & Marina

Mandraki Port & Marina it is located 250 m south of Elli beach and is a wonderful place for an evening walk. It is said that he was found here The Colossus of Rhodes - the seventh wonder of the world consisting of a huge statue (approximately 30 m) of the god Helios. Along the walk, you will be able to see statues and churches with interesting architecture, in addition to the panorama of the sea. 

About 800 m away from Colos and right along the port, there is the Kontiki NEXT Restaurant. It has a terrace overlooking the sea, and the food is tasty. You can find Greek, European and, of course, specifically Mediterranean dishes. The dishes cost between 4-30 euros and the experience is one not to be missed. 

Day 2

Start the morning with some sweet snacks at one of the patisseries in the center, such as Old Town Bakery (2-7 euros) where you can enjoy baklava, orange cake, Greek coffee and sandwiches. 

Kato Petres beach

Kato Petres beach it is located approximately 2 km away from the Old Center. You can take bus 50 and go 4 stops with it. The ticket costs approximately 2 euros (you can buy it from the driver) and you will arrive in 20-25 minutes. 

Kato Petres it is an isolated and wild beach along which there is also a small road. To get to the beach, you will have to go down some stairs. The area is rocky, but here the light blue of the sea merges with the dark, being a superb area to visit in the morning when the waves are smoother. It is a romantic beach where you can enjoy the tranquility of the sea. 

Monte Smith

Behind the beach there is a perfect hill for a walk with a view of the city - Monte Smith. Enjoy the moments of relaxation and continue your walk to the east until you reach The Acropolis of Rhodes. Access is free and you will be able to observe site of the Temple of Apollo, a stadium and a small theater. The ruins date from the classical Greek period. You can go back to the center with bus 50 or on foot, because you will already be much closer to the center. 

Day 3 

  • Tsambika Beach 
  • Valley of the 7 Springs (Epta Piges) 

Venture out on the third day of your vacation 25 km from the city of Rhodes and you will discover some impressive places! You can get from Rhodes to Tsambika by bus in about 1 hour (4 euros per person) with the bus from 9 o'clock or from 11 o'clock. Take into account in advance that there are no buses between Tsambika and Epta Piges, so you can even rent from the beginning of the day a car from Rent A Car from 40 euros per day, you can take a taxi (10-20 euros) between the 2 attractions or if you are energetic and adventurous, a long walk of almost 8 km.  

Tsambika Beach

There you will find a beach like out of exotic movies: palm trees, extremely fine sand and shades of the sea that vary between pastel blue and light turquoise. You can rent 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella for 10 euros.  

You can find various restaurants on the beach, such as Tsampika Taverna (2-12 euros) where you can have burgers, appetizers, desserts and dishes with fresh fish for lunch. 

Valley of the 7 Springs

Valley of the 7 Springs it is one of the most beautiful places. The springs flow throughout the year, thus forming a lake with clear, but quite cold water. You can swim in it or enjoy this natural paradise in the middle of nature. There is even a waterfall here. You can pass through a dark and mystical tunnel of almost 200 m, the end of which is the lake itself. Access is free. There is also a restaurant with a terrace with wines from Rhodes, Greek food and cured meats. The prices are average, between 2-40 euros.  

Day 4 

  • Kathara Beach 
  • Anthony Quinn Beach 
  • Dinner on the beach 

You are about to reach the pearls of Rhodes Island - the beaches in the eastern area. They are located at a short distance from each other, so we recommend you visit them in the order above.

Kathara Beach

It starts in the morning at Kathara beach by bus 40 (get off at Faliraki Ermou stop) or 113 (get off at Platanos stop) from the Old Center. Tickets cost approximately 3-4 euros and you will travel a distance of 15 km by bus. At any of the 2 stations you will choose to get off, you will have to walk about another 1 km to the beach. Kathara beach is long and the water is very clean. You can rent a deckchair from 5 euros per person until 9 pm. We recommend that you spend at least 2-3 hours on this beach, but in the morning because it gets crowded at noon. 

Anthony Quinn

Around 11-12 o'clock, head to the beach Anthony Quinn located approximately 3 km. You can reach it on foot in about 40 minutes or by taxi in 10-15 minutes for 7-12 euros. The beach is located in a bay, and to call it paradise is an understatement. I have left some pictures below for you to convince yourself! You can rent 2 sunbeds and an umbrella for 10 euros per day. There are also terraces near the beach, and we recommend Ladiko Restaurant & Bar with prices between 3-40 euros. Here you can try seafood and other Mediterranean dishes. 

Day 5

  • Valley of the Butterflies 

The historical center of Rhodes

Reserve your last day to discover the city of Rhodes itself! We recommend a walk through the entire historical center. You will be able to notice Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes (between 6-10 euros/person), Archaeological Museum of Rhodes built in 1440 (8 euros) and many other attractions on the street corner. You can also find terraces where you can enjoy the most delicious coffees in Rhodes, such as Nefeli Cafe or Vomvylas

Valley of the Butterflies

At noon, get ready to arrive at another spectacular place - Valley of the Butterflies. It is located approximately 20 km from the Old Center and you can get here by bus from the RODA company (Link at the end). The trip will take about 50 minutes and the ticket costs between 3-6 euros. 

Valley of the Butterflies is one of the most beautiful places in Rhodes, especially for nature lovers. Right near the end of May, thousands of butterflies beautify the landscape. It is a true miracle of nature! The price for adults is 5 euros, and access for children under 10 is free. 

Day 6 

  • leaving 

For a vacation in Rhodes where you can visit the main attractions and relax, our recommendation is to stay at least 5 days. The ruins that can be seen from afar even from the beach will conquer you, so give yourself a few days more than not being able to get where you want. The minimum budget recommended by us for a 5-day stay in Rhodes for 2 people is 700-800 euros.
